My love/hate relationship with Instagram

Wednesday, 27 September 2017

Jeans - Topshop
Coat - Zara
Boots - Aldo

We all love a bit of Instagram! Its the perfect photo and video sharing app for discovering new things whether it be new fashion brands, recipes, holiday destinations or fitness regimes. I can spend a lot of time on Instagram scrolling through different accounts getting tons of inspo and laughing at funny memes. Instagram is definitely the most used app on my iPhone for sure.

However, I have a love/hate relationship with the app! I started my blogging Instagram about a year and a half ago and I have about 1,500 followers which I am very proud of! I try my hardest to produce quality content and upload frequently whilst engaging with people, but sometimes it can be disheartening when your content doesn't get the engagement you had hoped for. Many bloggers would agree that Instagram's new algorithm has messed everything up! I am constantly getting messages from followers saying that my pictures haven't been showing up in their feed for days which is frustrating for me who is over here trying to upload great content everyday. Bloggers put a lot of time and effort into their content and it is mind blowing to hear what actually happens behind the scenes before you simply post a picture. So to hear that my pictures hadn't reached some of my followers really wound me up!

Also gaining followers is a lot harder than it used to be, especially for me as a new blogger. It's like you gain 3 followers one day and then loose about 15 the next lol. Which can also be disheartening! It's such a hard game these days and sometimes I question if it is all worth it.

All that being said, Instagram does have its perks. I love the interaction I get from my ride or die followers. Their sweet comments really help to lift my spirits and keep me going. I hugely appreciate it. I love the whole process of taking photos, editing them, posting and engaging with my followers and it brings me such joy to know that they are appreciating what I am posting.

I pray that one day Instagram will get its act together and go back to the way it used to be! But until then i'll just keep doing me haha. Sorry for the rant!

Jeans - Topshop
Shoes - Simmi Shoes
Bag - Mango
Earrings - Mango

I love arranging date nights, and dressing up is one of the things I enjoy the most about it. This outfit would be my "go to" a nice top, jeans, a pair of comfy heels and a matching bag. I don't like to go over board but I still like to look well put together. For date nights, we would mainly go out to a nice restaurant and then maybe to the cinema so this outfit works well for both! Let me know what you guys think :)

Day off work

Sunday, 3 September 2017

I love having days off work! I am not the kind of person to pack my time off with various outdoor activities or even socialising with friends (as bad as that sounds). Don't get me wrong, I do love a good catch with friends over lunch/dinner if I have a couple of days off work, but if I only have one day then I like take the opportunity to make it a lazy one! I have gathered some examples of what I like to do when I have absolutely nothing going on!

Breakfast In Bed
day off work

Having breakfast in bed is something I really enjoy, although it isn't as glamorous as it sounds because I am normally have to make it for myself creating a mess in the kitchen. I wake up at around 10am and then head straight to the kitchen for some breakfast which would normally be something quick and easy like cereal or a bagel. Once I have made my breakfast I head straight back to bed and stuff my face whilst replying to messages/emails and checking good old social media!

Catching Up On Youtube Videos
day off work
I can honestly say I can pretty much watch youtube videos all day. I love catching up with the latest uploads from my favourite beauty gurus and vloggers. There are so many videos out there that can swamp you in for hours. I am really into moving vlogs at the moment. I love seeing how people get settled into their fancy new houses/apartments. I am also enjoying all the controversial KKW Beauty reviews that are happening especially Jackie Aina's who is in the picture above. Some of my go to youtubers at the moment are Sophia and Cinzia, Emma Hill and Jackie Aina.

Internet Shopping

Days off can be very naughty for my bank account. Above is a wish list I created on Missguided as I was aimlessly browsing. I enjoy going onto my favourite online stores and filling up my wish lists with various pieces. It is a dangerous time waster as I always end up purchasing something which is exactly what happened today! I purchased the polka dot wrap top in the end! I am so obssessed with number 4, the oversizeed borg trucker jacket and I am hoping Missguided come out with a discount code real soon so I can snap that up!

Eating!
day off work

Days off are the perfect time for eating whatever the hell you want, unless of course you're on a diet then that sucks! Pizza is probably my favourite food ever, especially Dominos pepperoni passion omg! I would also normally snack on jaffa cakes, chocolate, chips and dip and sweets...nothing healthy of course!

Netflix
I signed up for Netflix about 2 years ago and have never regretted it. I love binge watching a series and there are so many along with movies to choose from. I really enjoy the Netflix originals and I've recently started watching Ozark from all the hype my boyfriend was giving it. So far its a bit slow but I am sure it will pick up a lot more. Ive also been addicted to Power which is also really good!

Thats pretty much all I do on my day off work and wouldn't have it any other way! I love being able to do absolutely nothing and just relax. Let me know what you like to do on your day off :)

Transitional Outfits | Summer to Autumn/Fall

Sunday, 27 August 2017

Its about that time of year where the weather is starting to cool down! We've had a few really hot sunny days here in the UK which we were all very grateful for, and have throughly enjoyed wearing my cute summer dresses. However, I have decided that now is the right time to have a wardrobe clear out and to start prepping for autumn. I'm not talking about full on coats, scarfs, and wooly hats just yet as that is a bit extreme! Just a few lightweight pieces I can layer up and mix and match for the cooler days.

Cardigans

Cardigans are a great layering piece for autumn. This is the first one I purchased to start off my knitwear collection. I have been loving draping a chunky knit cardigan over strappy dresses and tops recently. I prefer a more slouchy oversized fit as to me it looks effortless but stylish (also comfier!). Cardigans have definitely made a comeback and are a lighter option to wearing a coat/jacket in the autumn.

Suit

Suit - Boohoo Top Bottom, Tee - Similar here, Bag - Primark, Shoes - Stan Smiths

I have seen so many suits floating around in high street stores recently and I love them. I found this one on sale on boohoo and I am obsessed. Finding a nice suit is the perfect going out outfit option. You don't have to go through all the fuss of trying to match certain pieces, its all done for you! All you have to do is find a cute bodysuit or cami to go on underneath and thrown on a pair or stilettos and you're good to go. As you can see I went for a more casual vibe with this suit. Pairing it with a T-shirt and trainers instantly makes the outfit wearable for daytime. Red is also a very popular colour this autumn so go ahead and try!

Trousers

Trousers- Zara (not available in online but check in store), Top - Similar here, Shoes - Stan Smiths, Bag - Primark

This Autumn I want to try and challenge myself to stop wearing so much denim jeans. Lets face it, it's most peoples go to option when it comes to what to wear on the bottom. Recently I have been discovering trousers that look great and are way comfier to wear instead of jeans! I am loving the strip detail on these ones which adds a cool sporty vibe to this otherwise plain outfit.

Blazers

Blazer - Bershka, Bodysuit - Boohoo, Skirt - H&M, Bag - Mango

Blazers are also a great layering piece for the colder months. This dogs tooth checked blazer is very popular at the moment and I have seen it worn in a bunch of bloggers Instagram pics. I chucked this blazer on with this lace bodysuit so it wouldn't give off too much of a businessy vibe and keeps it quite sexy. Sexy, but also keeping it casual with the denim skirt.

I hope you enjoyed my looks! I can slowly see my wardrobe filling up with great autumnal pieces! Autumn is my favourite season so I secretly can't wait for the sun to disappear and the leaves to change colours. Bring on the cosier months!!

DENIM SKIRT: How to style in 3 different ways

Sunday, 20 August 2017

Denim skirts have been a massive trend this season which I have been fully obsessed with. It brings me back to my teenaged years where I would dress in denim skirts, gypsy tops and platformed flip flops! Anyone else? I love that denim skirts have come back in fashion and below I have styled them in 3 different ways. Hopefully one of the looks below is suitable for your kind of style! They are so easy to dress up and down which is a key factor I look for when buying an item of clothing. So tell me what you think!

Girly

Top - H&M, Skirt - H&M, Bag - Mango, Shoes - Public Desire

This is probably my favourite way to style demin skirts. Pairing it with a dressy/girly blouse makes it more of a casual yet put together outfit. Dressy but not trying too hard! This look would be perfect for brunch/day drinks with the girls or a cute bbq.

Slogan
denim skirt polka slogandenim skirt polka slogandenim skirt polka slogan
Top - Boohoo, Skirt - H&M, Shoes - Stan Smiths, Bag - Mango

This is the perfect "I can't be bothered to make an effort with my outfit but still wanna look nice" outfit! Its a look which describes my style the best. Fortunately, slogan tee's are everywhere at the moment so chucking one on with a demin skirt is an easy way to keep up with the trends. This look would be perfect for going shopping and catching up with friends.

Edgy

Bodysuit - Prettylittlething, Skirt - H&M, Boots - (Old) Similar here, Bag - Similar here

This is a look I would call effortlessly cool! I was inspired by a look Bella Hadid wore and had to recreate it. Its a look that requires not much thought but still looks quite sexy, which I think is a "go to" look for a lot of models. I am obsessed with the neck line of this bodysuit which definitely gives the outfit a sexier vibe.

I hope you enjoyed these looks and if you haven't already gotten yourself a denim skirt then I would hurry before they go out of season! They are definitely a wardrobe staple at the moment and will be wearing them for as long as I can before we move into autumn!

Jardin Tropical Tenerife

Saturday, 12 August 2017

Hey Guys, my boyfriend and I come back from the most amazing holiday in Tenerife! We stayed at the lovely Jardin Tropical in Costa Adeje and it was definitely one of the best hotels I have stayed in!

jardin tropical

jardin tropical pool

I was first drawn to this hotel as it had a similar exterior to the white buildings of Santorini. As I continued to click through the images I fell more and more in love with it.

As we arrived we were welcomed by beautiful spa like features which instantly made us feel relaxed. As we checked in we were offered seats on comfy chairs and offered a glass of champagne whilst the receptionist took our details. Once we were checked in the bell boy offered to take our bags and deliver them to our rooms once we were settled.

We were so excited to see our room as the pictures were very enticing and of course it did not disappoint. In fact it was even better than we had expected. When booking we opted out of getting a room with a sea view as it was a little bit out of our budget. To our surprise, we could see a little bit of the sea from our back balcony. We were on the 5th floor which meant we had a nice view overlooking the buzz of the pool area from our front door.

The rooms seem to have been newly renovated to keep up with the hotels modern exterior. It gave off major hawaiian vibes which was very relaxing. The room itself had a TV, safe, mini bar, ample plug sockets and usb ports, a comfy chair, a wardrobe with hangers and draws.

The bathroom had a simplistic spa like feel which again very soothing. It was stocked with numerous towels and complimentary products. We had a little issue with our shower overflowing when it was in use and our toilet had flushing issues. I assumed it was because of the room recently being renovated.

There were so many beautiful locations within the hotel it was literally a bloggers dream. I was finding somewhere cute to shoot outfit photos everyday. As you can see from the photo above the views were beautiful. We treated ourselves one of the days to spend the day at the beach club which was attached to the hotel but closer to the sea. Here we rented a cabana bed overlooking the sea which was probably the most relaxing thing we done on our trip. We had the luxury of food and drinks being delivered to our bed so we literally did not have to move a muscle. (picture below)

Jardin Tropical was in a great location. With beaches either side of the hotel and also a marina where you could organise water sports and go on boat trips for the day. The hotel was also a 10 minute walk from the worlds best water park, Siam Park and about a 20 minute walk from Siam Mall. There is also a variety of restaurants to choose from! I recommend our favourite Delhi Darbar, which is a fantastic Indian restaurant.

To conclude, my stay at Jardine Tropical was delightful and I already have major holiday blues! The staff went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was comfortable. I would love to take a trip back there one day.
